Jude Shih

Hao-Ting Shih is an award-winning and HMMA-nominated Taiwanese composer based in Los Angeles. His recent work includes the short film LASER-CAT, which won the First Prize in La Cinef at the 79th Festival de Cannes, and the feature film MASTER, which received the Big Screen Award at the 2026 International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). His notable credits also include MONGRELS, which premiered at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, and the award-winning documentary DUET, which received the 96th Student Academy Award.

Hao-Ting’s compositional journey began with a fascination for 1970s electronic pioneers like Tangerine Dream and Vangelis, evolving into a deep engagement with post-romantic classical music, minimalism, and electroacoustic music. His work explores the fusion of acoustic and electronic elements, crafting deconstructed sonic palettes that blur the boundaries between music and sound. A graduate of NYU’s Screen Scoring program, Hao-Ting currently works at Sparks and Shadows, founded by Emmy and BAFTA-winning composer Bear McCreary.
